Derek Jeter hits a solo home run to left field for hit number 3,000. Derek Jeter became the 28th major league baseball player to reach 3,000 career hits on Saturday the 9th of July 2011. Not only was it a great day because of Jeter's achievement of the milestone but also because it was in the Bronx. It was a good day at the plate for Jeter. He went 5 for 5 with a double, 2 RBI, 2 RUNS and a stolen base. He had the game winning RBI in the eighth inning. The Yankees won 5-4 over the Rays.
