Yankees win both doubleheader games over Baltimore

Yankees won the first game 8-3. The Yanks rested a few starters and still won big. Bartolo Colon got the win with great run support. The whole team was hitting the ball. Nick Swisher had three hits which included a 2 run homerun.

It was a bad day to be an Orioles fan as the Yanks sweep the doubleheader with an amazing win 17-3. The bronx bomers put up 12 runs in the first inning! They set a franchise record for 12 runs in the first inning. Cano, Swisher, and Granderson all had good days at the plate. Cano went 5 for 5 with 5 RBIs. Swisher hit another 2 run bomb during the night game. Granderson went 4 for 6. It was just a great game to watch. Super Swisher has been crushing the ball lately. I love watching Swisher when he is on top of his game. Another important part of this game was Ivan Nova getting called back up from Triple-A. Nova had an easy night but still posts a (9-4)record on the year. Nova was sent down on July 3 for Phil Hughes when he came off of the disabled list. I believe that was a mistake. Nova needs to be in the rotation.

The Bronx Bombers do it again

The Yankees win big over The Mariners 10-3. Giving the Seattle Mariners their 16th straight loss. Teixeira got it started with his 27th home run of the season. This was a long ball that landed in the second deck in left field (425 feet). Also Derek Jeter had a solo home run. Yes Derek Jeter hit a home run. Both Teixeira and Jeter had 3 RBIs on the night. Garcia gets the win with 7.2 innings pitched with 3 ER and 5 strike outs. Hopefully the bats stay hot tonight.
Watch Teixeira's HR here!

Texas Rangers with MLB season high scoring 20 runs

Last night in Arlington The Texas Rangers scored 20 runs against the The Minnesota Twins. The final score was 20-6. A Game like this is always fun to watch unless your a Twins fan. They finished with 27 hits. The Rangers have won 23 of their last 33 games. The Rangers are first in the American League West division with the Angels 4 games behind.

      - bad night not to check my fantasy line up which had Cruz on the bench

The Royals beat the Rays 10-4
      - I like the royals this year with some good talent ( Melky Cabrera, Gordon, Hosmer, Francoeur)

Who would you rather have in the rotation Hughes or Nova?

This is a big topic lately on who should be in the rotation for the Yankees. Hughes (0-2, 10.57 ERA) and Nova (8-4, 4.12 ERA)

CC wins 14th on the year

With the help of CC Sabathia the yanks beat the jays 4-1 today. CC allowed just one run and three hits in eight innings with eight strikeouts. He got his 14th win of the season and I believe he will get 20 wins this year. There is no doubt in my mind that the Yankees will win when CC is on the mound. That's such a great feeling to have and the other players feed off that. He has been dominant and taking care of business every game. If he keeps this up he should get the Cy Young.

National League Wins 2011 All-Star Game

The National League beat the American League 5-1 for the second year in a row. This is a turn of events for the NL after losing 12 straight years and now having back to back wins. The NL is starting to show that they mean business and have some great talent. The only problem with the all-star game this year was that it was a some-star game because of the lack of players that participated. All together there was 16 players that didn't play. Some were ineligible due to pitching on Sunday and being on the DL. It took away from the game making it seem not as special and important as it really is. It was annoying as a fan having to listen to the announcers talk majority of the game on how we the fans got ditched and how this wasn't a true ALL-stars game. This is something that all baseball players and little league players dream about being part of. It should be an honor to play in the all-star game and something that every player looks forward to, not making it into an optional high school reunion in which you try to find excuses to get out of going.

Robinson Cano wins 2011 Home Run Derby

Cano puts on a show with numerous long balls and a few ridiculous bombs. I had a nickname for robby before and he lived up to that name tonight "Monster Cano". His longest of the night was 472 feet. Almost all of his home runs were hard hit and deep into the crowd at Chase Field. It was a showdown in the finals with Robinson Cano and Adrian Gonzalez. AKA The New York Yankees vs. The Boston Redsox. Once again the Yanks are victorious because of the effort and power of Cano. Cano broke the old record for third round homers which was at 11. Now Cano holds the new record with 12 (that was with only 6 outs). It was a great experience to watch Cano's father Jose Cano pitch to his son during the derby. You could feel and see how special it was for both of them. Congratulations to Robinson Cano!!!!

Jeter hits 3,000 with some authority

Derek Jeter hits a solo home run to left field for hit number 3,000. Derek Jeter became the 28th major league baseball player to reach 3,000 career hits on Saturday the 9th of July 2011. Not only was it a great day because of Jeter's achievement of the milestone but also because it was in the Bronx. It was a good day at the plate for Jeter. He went 5 for 5 with a double, 2 RBI, 2 RUNS and a stolen base. He had the game winning RBI in the eighth inning. The Yankees won 5-4 over the Rays. It was a perfect day that will not be forgotten. Congradulations Derek Jeter on hit number 3,000 and many more to come. You have earned it DJ3K.

Derek Jeter's chase for 3,000 hits

Derek Jeter is now as of 7-7-11 only two hits away from reaching 3,000! The best part of this is that it has a good chance to be at home in Yankee Stadium. Jeter will be the only Yankee in history to reach this milestone. Also he will be the only player in baseball history with the most hits at the shortstop position. You have to be a great hitter to reach 3,000 hits and shows that its not all luck or a fluke. If there was any doubt about Jeter and the hall of fame this will definitely change your mind. Anyone who gets 3,000 hits is a future hall of famer hands down. Good Luck Captain Jeter!
